Students, staff honored for Mustang Cafe program at Stafford Township School District meeting

At a Stafford Township School District meeting, students and staff were recognized for operating the Mustang Cafe and a classroom-run Arigua Cafe that staff said taught students vocational and independent life skills.

District staff member Kristen, identified in the meeting as the anti-bullying coordinator, introduced students and staff and praised their work: "Their dedication and creativity and hard work helped create a welcoming experience for students and staff while building in core vocational and independent life skills," she said. Kristen named participating students including Grayson Cardini, Derek Miglaresi, RJ, Jane Silly and Tom McCarter and staff including Miss Hall and Sharon Rogers.

The recognition highlighted practical skills learned through planning, managing, shopping and preparing food and beverages, with students serving breakfast items and greeting customers. A meeting participant who spoke about a teacher said, "She deserves to win," reflecting strong in-room support for instructors and the classroom program.

School leaders framed the cafe projects as experiential learning opportunities that promote teamwork, responsibility and communication. The meeting did not include further details on program funding or plans to expand the cafes beyond the classrooms mentioned.

The meeting then moved on to routine agenda business, including votes on consent items.
