Lavaca County endorses creation of a new district court shared with Colorado County

Lavaca County Commissioners on March 25 voted unanimously to support legislation creating a new district court to serve both Lavaca and Colorado counties beginning Jan. 1, 2027.
Commissioner Wayne Faircloth moved that the court approve support for the new district court with regional jurisdiction; Commissioner Edward Pustka seconded the motion and the vote was 5–0 in favor. The court’s action is an endorsement of the creation; it does not itself create the court or alter judicial boundaries without state legislative or judicial action.
Court minutes record the procedural support and the commissioners’ unanimous vote. No further county commitments or funding for court operations were recorded at the meeting; any institution-building or staffing would be subject to future decisions and required approvals.
