Dr. Henry said the process considers enrollment shifts, expiration of one‑time or grant funds, equity multiplier funding changes, and program and school needs. He emphasized that reductions focus on positions, not named individuals, and that the district will try to absorb changes through attrition where possible. The presentation and initial recommended lists were provided for review and discussion only; staff said the lists will likely change prior to the final recommendations.
Board member Zima Creason acknowledged the difficulty of the topic and urged community members to review the documents and ask questions. Trustee Ben Avey said making these decisions is part of the board’s responsibility when funding sunsets. No votes were taken; staff said final recommendations and resolutions will return for action on Feb. 24.
