Council committee clears scheduling for Chamber and PSRC presentations; senior planner hire restarts after candidate decline

The Snoqualmie Community Development committee on May 4 granted administration permission to place two outside presentations on a future full council agenda: the Chamber of Commerce’s requested 10-year plan presentation and a presentation from the Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC) about how housing targets are set and tools available to cities.
The mayor said the Chamber’s executive director asked to present the 10-year plan and administration will coordinate scheduling with other queued items; the Chamber’s presentation may be scheduled for a full council meeting once space is available.
On PSRC, the mayor said the PSRC executive director agreed to present to the full council about housing target methodology and tools and that scheduling depends on the presenter's availability (the mayor suggested May 26 as a possible date). The mayor named Josh Brown as a contact for coordinating that presentation.
Administration also provided a personnel update: a candidate who had been offered the senior planner position declined because they are expecting a child. The mayor and staff said they will restart the hiring process and continue efforts to attract a diverse applicant pool.
Next steps: Administration will work with the Chamber and the PSRC to schedule full council presentations and will relaunch recruitment for the senior planner position.
