Spectrum says broadband now available to about 2,100 Boyle County homes

Spectrum Government Affairs Director Ben Ullis told the Boyle County Fiscal Court that a multiyear broadband build in the county is close to completion.
“We have activated service to about 2,100 homes in Boyle County,” Ullis said, adding that those households now have the option to subscribe to the company's high‑speed packages though not all have signed up. He said pole permitting is finished in the county — more than 3,000 poles — and that crews are working on a few remaining pockets, with the project expected to be wrapped up by summer.
Ullis described the build as a complex infrastructure effort that required permitting, design and construction phases. He said the company replaced poles that were not tall or strong enough to carry fiber and that a handful of rural pockets north on 127 and near Portland remain to be connected.
Magistrates thanked Spectrum staff for partnering with the county and noted the project should improve access in rural areas. A magistrate raised a lateral‑line concern from a constituent; Ullis offered to take the specific address and route it to the construction team for follow‑up.
Why it matters: Activating service availability does not mean every household will subscribe, but it does remove the connectivity barrier for many residents in remote parts of the county. The court did not take formal action on the report; it served as an informational update and a prompt for staff and Spectrum to coordinate on remaining service questions and customer issues.
What comes next: Ullis said Spectrum will provide an updated project map and report to the county and will continue outreach to residents in the remaining pockets until service is available to all mapped addresses.
