Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity outlines repair and veteran-senior programs to Corrales council

Bill Bedal, executive director of Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity, presented the affiliate's programs to the Corrales Village council, describing new-home construction, an expanded home-preservation and critical-systems replacement program for seniors and veterans, and the affiliate's Restore retail operations.
Bedal said the Albuquerque affiliate has built more than 200 homes since its 1987 founding and is now focusing on repairs and critical-systems replacements (roofs, HVAC, water heaters, ADA bathroom retrofits) to keep low-income homeowners in place. He told the council the affiliate recently received nearly $1 million in funding through the Mortgage Finance Authority and New Mexico Housing to support veterans and seniors.
Bedal also described the Restore retail operation and donation centers that generate significant earned revenue to support programs and said people can call the affiliate or visit the website to apply for services or donate goods.
Councilors thanked the presenters and asked logistical questions about volunteer permits, insurance and how residents apply for services; Bedal provided contact information and a website for applications.
