Bernards Township honors St. James cross-country champions and long-serving volunteers

Deputy Mayor McN presented Resolution 2025-413 honoring St. James School after coaches Matthew Weisman and Linda Johnson and student-athletes joined the meeting. Committee members congratulated the program, noting about 60 student-athletes and a third straight state championship for the teams; the committee adopted the resolution by unanimous roll call and posed for photos.
The committee also adopted a set of resolutions recognizing longtime volunteers: Timothy Ober for his service on the Golf Advisory Committee (Resolution 2025-0417), Charles (named in the resolution text as Charles Counan) for 15 years on the Parks, Pathways and Recreation Advisory Committee (Resolution 2025-0418), and Eric Price for four years on the same advisory committee (Resolution 2025-0419). Each honoree was thanked by committee liaisons and the resolutions were approved by unanimous roll call votes.
Separately, the committee honored Mike Delgado with Resolution 2025-0425 for five decades with Basking Ridge Fire Company No. 1. Erin Darif, a representative of Congressman Tom Kean, presented a congressional certificate and a U.S. flag flown over the capital; the meeting also read commendations from Somerset County and the New Jersey Legislature recognizing Delgado’s 50 years of volunteer service. Committee members and local residents praised Delgado’s leadership and mentorship before adopting the resolution unanimously.
The committee invited honorees and supporters to line up for photographs after each presentation. Several honorees offered brief remarks; Eric Price and others described parks and recreation work as community service, while Mike Delgado thanked colleagues and accepted the honors.
All recognition resolutions were approved by unanimous roll-call votes at the meeting. These items were ceremonial acknowledgments; no policy or budgetary changes were enacted as part of the recognitions.
