Paramount planners approve Matco Forge expansion and temporary restroom containers

Staff presentation and findings: Staff described the site as approximately 3.2 acres with an existing 47,450‑square‑foot maintenance building and 87 parking spaces (including four ADA spaces). Staff recommended approval, finding the proposed addition and temporary facilities compatible with the M‑2 heavy manufacturing zoning and noting required roof extensions and site improvements tied to the new equipment.
Applicant statements and operations: Greg Panick of True North said the temporary restroom containers will be hooked into the building plumbing system and that building and plumbing permits have been applied for. "We’ve applied for plumbing and building permits for the temporary restrooms; they’ll be hooked into the system," Panick said. Gervin Nicholl, who identified himself as the site's director of maintenance, said the two containers are intended to serve male employees and that nearby female restroom facilities are already available for other staff.
Commission questions and workforce: Commissioners asked about employee counts and shifts; the applicant said the facility now operates roughly two shifts and expects staffing increases to support new products and increased capacity, including Department of Defense work. The applicant described Matco Forge as a long‑standing local employer that currently employs about 108 (later in discussion referenced up to about 180) people and said the new equipment would increase production capacity.
Votes and next steps: No public testimony was received for either item. The commission closed the public hearings and approved both CUPs by roll call. Staff will monitor compliance with permit conditions and building‑permit approvals before construction and placement of the temporary restroom containers.
