Board approves $49,000 housing grant to Habitat and accepts $100,000 Sourcewell award for CaseWorks

The Morrison County Board approved using 2025 state affordable housing aid to contract with Habitat for Humanity and authorized acceptance of Sourcewell impact funds for CaseWorks Phase 2.
Nathan Bertram, Health & Human Services, explained the county issued an RFP for the roughly $49,000 in state affordable-housing aid and an HHS committee recommended Habitat for Humanity because of its community reach, capacity and partnerships with schools and building trades. "...continuing with Habitat was the best fit out of that committee because it served the community, increased capacity and continued to partner with the schools," Bertram said.
The board approved the Habitat contract with a proposed contract term running to Dec. 30, 2027 to allow time to expend funds. The board also accepted notice that Sourcewell will provide approximately $100,000 toward CaseWorks Phase 2 (the social-services implementation) and approved amendments to the CaseWorks contract to incorporate that funding and move implementation forward.
Staff said the Sourcewell award cuts the county’s initial implementation cost by more than half and will accelerate deployment of the social-services module. The board approved both items by voice vote.
