North Brunswick honors district Teachers and Educational Support Professionals of the Year

At its March 26 meeting the North Brunswick Township School District honored dozens of staff across buildings as Teachers and Educational Support Professionals of the Year, with leaders praising classroom innovation, bilingual instruction and long-standing support roles.
The North Brunswick Township School District recognized its 2025 Teachers and Educational Support Professionals (ESPs) of the Year in a ceremony during the board’s March 26 regular public meeting.
“Welcome everybody — I love the energy in the room and it’s so wonderful to see everyone here and to be able to honor our educators of the year and our support persons of the year,” Superintendent Shoka said as the event opened. Administrators from each school introduced honorees and described their service.
Presentations highlighted a mix of classroom teachers and support staff. The district acknowledged Meg Wright and Luis Salvatore from the high school, Megan Carol and Florine at the middle school, Isaiah Mason and Lizette Corales at Lynwood, Jessica Drury and Vivian Luna at John Adams, and winners from other buildings including Parsons, Livingston Park, Jud and the Early Childhood Center. Speakers praised recipients for classroom innovation — including a successful Civics program and AVID support — bilingual instruction, long-term mentorship and daily compassion for students.
Isaiah Mason, the Lynwood music teacher, said receiving the award was humbling and emphasized students’ centrality: “The kids are what it’s about,” he said, describing music as his gift and education as his passion.
Board and district leaders noted the evening parallels the New Jersey Department of Education’s Governor’s Educator of the Year program and that some district winners will be encouraged to enter county-level competitions. The event also included recognition of district office staff for cross-departmental support.
The ceremony was followed by informal receptions in the hall; the board reconvened its regular business after the presentations.
