Otsego Public Safety Commission reads proclamation to mark May as Public Safety Month

Greenman read the commission’s draft proclamation into the public record and cited the importance of crime prevention, fire safety, traffic safety, emergency preparedness and disaster response. “Whereas public safety is essential to the health and well-being and the quality of life of all residents of the City of Otsego,” Greenman read. The proclamation listed professions to be recognized, including law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, dispatchers, correctional officers and public works staff.
The proclamation text invoked the mayor in its enactment language: “Now, therefore, I, Mayor Jessica Stockcamp, do hereby proclaim the month of May annually be recognized as Public Safety Month.” Council members acknowledged the reading and thanked Greenman for presenting the commission’s work. No formal council action was required; the proclamation was entered into the public record.
