The Bank of Elk River donated $9,000 to Otsego’s parks and recreation programs, the city’s parks director said at the May 11 City Council meeting.
Parks and recreation director Jacobs told the council the gift—up from $8,500 last year—helps underwrite community events including Winterfest, Prairie Festival and youth programming. “This money is used to offset various programs and promotion of health and wellness in the community,” Jacobs said.
Alex Saif, branch manager at the Bank of Elk River’s Seagull location, thanked the council and described the bank’s long-term partnership with the city. “We’re proud to work in this community and represent our bank, which has been a committed partner to the City of Otsego for many years,” Saif said. He said the bank’s contributions support the Prairie Festival, event inflatables and, in 2025, support for the fire station; the memo shown to council lists $85,000 in contributions over 13 years.
City officials said the donation helps keep community programs running at low or no cost to residents. The council accepted the presentation; no formal vote was required. The parks department said it will continue to explore sponsorship opportunities and thanked the bank for the long-running partnership.
