The board adopted the consent agenda, which included approval of minutes from recent meetings (January 20 special meeting, January 2026 special and regular meetings), the January financial report, the monthly library materials list, and a mutual aid/memorandum of understanding related to county law enforcement and House Bill 33.
The board declined to adopt a proposed resolution and policy establishing a designated daily period of prayer and reading of religious text under Texas Education Code 25.0823, saying existing opportunities (moments of silence and student-led clubs) and constitutional protections make a mandated daily period unnecessary and that implementation would create an undue administrative burden.
The board approved a guaranteed maximum price for the administration office space buildout at the MONTGOMERY ISD Career and Technical Education Center without alternates. District staff said construction will begin this summer, the move next fall will allow district use of the CTE space, the project is expected to realize approximately $90,000 in annual operational savings and preserve over $2 million in bond funds for other campus improvements.
The restatement was read to ensure clarity and transparency after the original meeting’s audio recording was incomplete.
