City manager reports on residential paving project and smooth school reopening

The manager thanked residents for patience during the paving project, which has included repaving multiple residential streets and some collectors and arterials. He identified Live Oak between Temple City Boulevard and Baldwin as an area where detours have been necessary and said Sanonita Avenue (from city limit to city limit) will be among the last segments to be completed and will be impactful for nearby residents.
“We actually have a running punch list of items we have to go back to... before we close out the contract with OnX Paving,” the city manager said, asking residents to report imperfections so the contractor can correct them. He added that city funding for pavement work is tight and staff are looking for additional revenue sources to continue similar work in the future.
On schools, the city manager said this year’s school reopening has been smooth compared with prior years, noting reduced traffic issues and staff outreach around double parking, e-bike safety and student education. He thanked school principals and staff for their cooperation.
No new funding or contract-authorizing actions were taken at the meeting; the update was informational.
