Glendora board honors five National Merit semifinalists and Police Explorers; parents praise sister‑city exchange

National Merit semifinalists: Dr. Amber Green, principal of Glendora High School, introduced the district’s five National Merit semifinalists — Megan Angelus, Tessa Boyer, Arya Desmuk, Yash Patel and Emily Lynn (who was unable to attend). Dr. Green recited each student’s academic highlights, including course loads and weighted GPAs; she said Arya earned a 1520 on the 2024 PSAT NMSQT. Trustees and the superintendent congratulated the students and presented certificates.
Police Explorers: The school resource officer, Officer Argetta, introduced the Glendora Police Explorer participants who recently competed at the Riverside Police Explorer Competition. He named participants and cadets (Peter Himenez, Alexander Ham, Gabriel Ferman, Nolan Smith, Pearlo Ramos and Aiden Garcia) and summarized placements: first in tug, third in team obstacle, fourth in DUI investigation and fifth in active‑shooter scenario. Officer Argetta thanked Glendora Police Department supervisors and emphasized the program’s role in leadership and community service.
Public comment — sister‑city exchange: During public comment, Mike and Maya Bell described Glendora USD’s sister‑city exchange program with Moka/Mọka Higashi, Japan. Maya Bell, a Glendora High freshman and former host, described her experience hosting and traveling and encouraged the community to welcome incoming visiting students this week.
The recognitions and public comment were ceremonial; no board action was required.
