Board reviews facility-project estimates, asks staff to package bids; approves two additional SUVs

Staff said tuckpointing (including older buildings and a gym) was estimated at roughly $1.0 million to $1.4 million; HVAC and gas-line work was estimated at $450,000 to $600,000; districtwide controls work at $700,000 to $1 million; and window replacements at roughly $600,000 to $800,000 (the window estimate did not include the high school). Staff recommended a combination that emphasized painting, fire controls and prioritized essential paving to keep the total package within budget. A staff presenter said the district would not lose parking spaces under the proposed paving plan.
The board asked for input on pressing issues at individual buildings—parking, a middle-school gym area, and a middle-school fire alarm were mentioned—and staff said Dr. Right will assemble a sequencing plan for bids. The presenter stressed that pricing and scope would be finalized after the board directed which combination of projects to bid so contractors can prepare January pricing.
Separately, the board voted to approve a motion to acquire two additional sport-utility vehicles for district use. The motion carried by voice vote during the meeting.
