Resident urges district to hire athletic trainer after months without full coverage

Nutter, who identified himself as an athletic trainer at Summa Health and the parent of two Marlington students, said volunteer coverage and intermittent clinic support had left gaps in care for concussion protocol, rehabilitation, nutrition and other medical needs he said are beyond the scope of coaches. He offered to volunteer his time "until full-time replacement is found" and asked the board to consider hiring athletic training staff directly with physician backing instead of relying solely on a single hospital partner.
The board did not respond with a specific action during the public comment period; the superintendent and administrators later confirmed personnel items and hiring processes were under consent consideration in the personnel section of the meeting.
