Police report: 783 May calls, 108 arrests; new patrol officer joins St. Bernard force

Safety Director Miss House presented the St. Bernard Police Department's monthly activity report for May, saying the department handled 783 calls for service resulting in 656 contacts and recorded 48 total criminal offenses and 108 criminal arrests.
Miss House gave additional detail: 62 traffic citations, 90 traffic warnings (31 primarily for speed, three for OVI), and 23 motor-vehicle accidents with four involving injuries. She noted that the police motorcycle is now in service and asked motorists and pedestrians to be mindful of motorcycle and bicycle traffic as weather warms.
Miss House also said Patrol Officer James Savage was sworn in recently and began field training May 29. "He joins our great police department with prior experience from both Hamilton and Terrace Park," she said. Officer Savage is training on the night shift with field training officers over the next several months.
Miss House reminded residents to report problems by calling 911 in an emergency or the local nonemergency line; the department also provided a direct staff contact during the meeting.
