St. Bernard Council schedules public hearing, moves $500,000 transfer and $50,000 appropriation to next meeting

The St. Bernard Village Council voted to place on the table ordinances to move $500,000 from the general fund into the Capital Improvements fund and to add a $50,000 additional appropriation for streets and sewers, after Auditor Miss Brick announced a public hearing on the proposed 2025 budget.

Auditor Miss Brick told council that the $500,000 transfer is intended to fund equipment already budgeted but not yet moved into the Capital Improvements fund and said the $50,000 appropriation for streets and sewers is a precautionary appropriation for potential problems at Vine and Mitchell; she described the actions as transfers and appropriations to be available when bills come due rather than new spending. "This is not an additional appropriation," Miss Brick said; "if it doesn't get used, that's all the better." The auditor also announced a public hearing at the council meeting in two weeks at 7:00 p.m. on the projected 2025 budget.

Council moved to place the transfer and additional-appropriation ordinances on the table for the next meeting; the motion was made by Mr. Schar and seconded by Mr. Morton and carried by voice vote.

The ordinances will return for formal consideration at the next council meeting, where the public hearing on the 2025 budget will also be held.
