District staff reported preliminary enrollment and registration figures and told the board those numbers remain in flux as families complete paperwork and some new-enrollment forms were later identified as returning students.
As presented, the district had about 4,983 students as of a recent Friday and approximately 845 submissions for new enrollments; staff cautioned that those figures were being reconciled and that a small number of applications appeared to be returning students filed on the wrong application. Staff also highlighted that returning-student registration reached roughly 91% this year compared with about 66% for the same point last year.
Board members asked what outreach and process changes produced the registration increase; staff credited a mix of targeted outreach (text messages and QR codes), more site staff during registration events, fact sheets for families, streamlined online and in-person registration and coordination with school building principals.
District staff also briefed the board on budget timing and planning. Staff said the books were under reconciliation and they expected auditor finalization in September. The board discussed beginning conversations about a supplemental two-year levy that will require planning for the 2026–27 cycle and noted the plant-facility levy schedule will need review before the levy expires in the 2027–28 window.
No levy resolution or ballot language was presented at the meeting; board members suggested a plant-facility committee meet to scope maintenance and capital needs and to inform levy planning.
The enrollment and budget numbers were presented as preliminary and subject to change pending final reconciliations and the district’s official count windows.
