The Forest Park City Council voted May 4 to approve case CUP 2026‑02, allowing a child care center use at 4959 and 4965 West Street within a single‑family residential zone in Ward 2.
City staff said the Planning Commission reviewed the request on April 16 and recommended approval with conditions. The application was brought forward by the property owner (rather than a tenant) so that future operators can lease the space without each tenant having to seek separate council approval for the use.
Staff noted the property owner complied with prior requests to stripe and pave the parking lot. During the public hearing a small number of supporters spoke in favor of the permit; no speakers registered opposition during the hearing. The council closed the hearing and approved the conditional use permit by motion and voice vote.
Next steps: Approval allows the owner to lease the space to child care operators subject to the Planning Commission's conditions and any building or licensing requirements.
