Megan Flores, the board’s controller and a board member, reported that "we ended last year with 2.166 remaining in our account that was unallocated," adding that, after accounting for items passed so far this year and two items on the current agenda, "we are sitting at about 1.67 million dollars of unallocated funds." Flores said she expects to have first-quarter budget figures in the coming weeks.
The board approved funding allocation number 307 to replace four downtown benches and trash receptacles with vendor Forms and Surfaces in the amount of $18,567. The motion to approve was made by Councilman Salinas and seconded by Commissioner Muta; a roll-call vote recorded seven yes votes and the motion carried.
The board also approved funding allocation number 308, awarding construction engineering for JF Mahoney ditch improvements to Neece Engineering for $16,425. The project was described as the construction engineering portion of a previously approved ditch-improvement project along JF Mahoney Drive (the underlying capital project had earlier been estimated near $100,000). That motion was moved and seconded and passed on a unanimous roll-call vote.
For street lighting, the board approved funding allocation number 309 with Hawk Enterprises for $1,985.55 to restore lighting on Sibley (noted in the transcript as a supplemental scope from Holman to the Nickty line). During discussion, the board was told the installation required an additional 155 feet of conduit and wiring; the lights are reported to be on at night now. The motion (moved by Councilman Salinas and seconded by Councilman Racos) passed unanimously by roll call.
Separately, the board approved the minutes from the Feb. 18 meeting (moved by Councilman Racos; seconded by Commissioner Muta) by a unanimous roll-call vote.
Board members also addressed constituent questions raised by Councilman Warpole about a possible repaving timetable for Indy Boulevard; the board said the streetwork is a state-managed project under the Department of Transportation and advised consulting the state's transportation improvement plan for scheduling. Warpole also raised constituent concerns about chipping paint on city light poles; staff said paint can be applied but that funding and resources would be required.
