Board approves summer Parks meal program and multiple maintenance, repair and capital bid awards

The board approved continuation of the Food Service summer Parks meal program (June 3–August 2) operating seven sites (six parks and one elementary school). Administration said the program is self‑sustaining through the Food Service fund and USDA reimbursement rules and serves free lunches to qualifying children at eligible parks.
Administration also presented a package of bid awards for routine maintenance and capital projects across the district. Notable items included an asphalt maintenance award to Pocatello Sweeping & Snow Removal (low responsive bidder; estimate noted at about $27,600), a recommended award for the Highland team room to EKC (Boise area firm), HVAC boiler replacements and central plant upgrades, kitchen plumbing replacement work at Pocatello High School (scope‑dependent alternates), lighting replacements that are expected to yield Idaho Power rebates, and roof projects prioritized at Sentry High School and Indian Hills Elementary. The Arches program building (adjacent to the maintenance shop) was also discussed with recommended alternates and funding using Fund 420 (Capital Improvement) and ESER funds for select items.
The board moved and approved the listed bid awards as presented. Administration said many projects came in under the estimated budget and that funding will be assigned by project based on the district’s capital and grant sources.
