The board also accepted the low bid from Mackie Construction and awarded the Lewis Central Middle School parking lot contract for $1,764,224.77; staff said phasing (front lot first) would reduce disruption to school operations.
The board approved a secure‑access and surveillance package for the high‑school addition (card readers, open‑door indicators and four new cameras) and a professional‑services installation scope with Prime Secured. The board also approved vendor renewals and service agreements, including PowerSchool renewals ($62,740.47) and participation in a local government natural‑gas risk pool ($235,267), all as presented by staff.
Superintendent Dr. Hazing noted the athletic‑building remodel is out for bid with bids due March 19 and that the board will convene a special meeting on March 23 to consider those bids. The superintendent reported the larger bond program remains under budget overall and that staff prefer to preserve contingency funds until this summer’s first round of construction is complete.
