Riverside swears in Deputy Chief James Vance and promotes Matthew Jackson to sergeant

Vance took the oath of office before council and guests.
Officer Matthew W. Jackson was sworn in as a sergeant. Staff described his education in criminal justice and his training at the Sinclair Community College Police Academy, and noted prior service with Waynesville Police and the Riverside Police Department since 2012. Jackson also took the oath of office during the ceremony.
Both promotions were accompanied by applause and photographs at the podium. The ceremony was presented as a formal agenda item before council moved on to consideration of zoning and other business.
