Plano planning commission approves park replats, Willowbend replats and Plano West high‑school site plan; one replat tabled

After opening the consent agenda, the commission approved the consent package 8–0. Item 1, a preliminary replat application for Good Faith Baptist Church (one lot, 0.2 acre on the east side of F Avenue) was presented by staff planner John Kim; the applicant asked for more time to refine the site plan and the commission voted to table the item to the Nov. 4, 2024 meeting (motion carried 8–0).
Administrative items 2A and 2B (City of Plano Los Rios Park replats and site plans) were presented as administrative considerations; Katie Denham of Plano Parks and Recreation explained the city’s plan to construct the first piece of a new park, including a two‑mile trail consistent with the 2018 master plan. The commission approved both items 2A and 2B 8–0, subject to required engineering conditions and off‑site improvements tied to the civil engineering review process.
Items 3 and 4 (replats and revised site plans for Willowbend Polo Estates, patio homes and related lots) were presented by lead planner Donna Sepulvado and approved 8–0.
Later in the agenda the commission considered a preliminary site plan for Plano West Senior High School (Plano ISD), which included building expansions, an automotive training facility with open storage, relocated tennis courts and parking adjustments. Staff recommended approval with a waiver for open storage screening and a 20% reduction in required parking subject to Board of Adjustment variances and compliance with Plano Fire‑Rescue hose‑lay requirements. Commissioners moved and approved that recommendation 8–0.
What happens next: the tabled replat returns for applicant refinement at the Nov. 4 meeting; park and residential replat approvals proceed to the usual administrative and engineering reviews; Plano ISD will pursue the Board of Adjustment variances required by the site plan approval conditions.
