Crawford County supervisors approve road reclassification, proclamations and routine items

At its March 31 meeting the Crawford County Board of Supervisors approved several routine but material actions and heard multiple departmental reports.
Road reclassification: The board opened and closed a public hearing and adopted Resolution 2026‑15 to reclassify 230th Street between H and G Avenue from area service road B to area service road A. No written or oral objections were recorded and the resolution passed unanimously.
Other votes and proclamations: The board approved a proclamation designating April 2026 as Child Abuse Prevention Month and unanimously adopted Resolution 2026‑16 dissolving the Crawford County Compensation Board. The board also approved machinery-evaluation insurance after a presentation by Kurt Miller of the Hoffman agency and discussed but took no action on proposed insurance deductible changes.
Tax abatement and license approvals: Supervisors approved a tax abatement for a new home at 2815 Highway 59 and later approved a liquor license for M&M’s Golf and Country.
Reports and operational items: Road and bridge updates covered an HMA project, limestone-by-rail deliveries (an 11‑car train, roughly 1,200 tons total) and staffing for part‑time positions; supervisors discussed potential effects of a pending state speed‑limit bill on signage and stopping‑sight distances. County staff and supervisors also discussed water‑quality outreach, including offers to coordinate well testing with Rural Water, DMU and extension services and to provide testing kits at public events.
All listed motions and approvals were recorded in the minutes and carried by unanimous vote when tallies were recorded. The board adjourned at the close of the meeting.
