County manager warns of tight grant deadline as hangar door delivery delayed; contractor says installation can meet timeline

County staff told commissioners they are monitoring a tight schedule to complete the Angel Fire hangar project before a June 30 grant deadline after a door-frame delivery was delayed.
Mike Provine of Molson Corbin said the contractor received the door but not the frame and expected the frame to arrive very soon; the contractor planned to pour concrete footings and tilt up the preassembled frame as soon as it arrives. "They are confident it will be here tomorrow morning at least," Provine said, adding that weekly construction meetings have reinforced the contractor’s assurance that the work can be completed in time to request state aviation reimbursements.
Staff said they are submitting reimbursement requests as contractors submit pay requests in order to limit county exposure if the grant period closes. The commission asked questions about schedule risk; staff said they were exploring the possibility of a grant extension while continuing to move forward with reimbursements and construction oversight.
No additional county funding was approved at this meeting; staff will continue to track contractor progress and report back.
