Trail Mix highlights 90 volunteers, discusses improvements for next year’s spring cleanup

Committee members discussed logistical improvements for next year, including moving the event earlier in the spring, reaching out to outdoor programs and universities for volunteer pools (University of Utah sent 13 students this year), and creating tasks suitable for youth volunteers. Anna Sprout volunteered to coordinate a Moab Happenings article to raise awareness of Trail Mix activities.
Members also reviewed program updates: the bike bus to HMK Elementary (a weekly Friday ride at 7:30 a.m. through the school season) was described as a new outreach effort to promote active transportation. Trail Work Wednesday was canceled this month due to weather; trail crews focused on Falcon Flow and announced a Navajo Rocks workday for May 6 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The committee celebrated community participation and discussed funding and organizational support to increase capacity for future stewardship events.
