Gate City Bank pledges $2 million for Fargo neighborhood revitalization initiative

Gate City Bank representatives told the Fargo City Commission on March 2 they will allocate $2 million to a neighborhood revitalization initiative aimed at helping homeowners make repairs and upgrades at below‑market interest rates.
Brandy Olsen, retail manager for Gate City Bank, said the home improvement partnership is one of multiple regional programs the bank runs. Funds are intended for qualifying projects such as accessibility adjustments, furnace replacements, energy improvements, garages and other repairs; eligible projects range between $10,000 and $100,000. The program targets homes at least 40 years old and limits eligibility to properties with assessed values under $300,000 in a defined geographic area east of the interstate to south 32nd Avenue S and up toward the Trollwood area.
Nicole Crutchfield explained the program boundary and encouraged residents to apply at the city website and through the planning office; the city noted last year’s allocation was $535,000 and the bank hopes more residents will use the expanded $2 million allocation.
The commission received the presentation and members expressed support; staff will coordinate outreach and application assistance for residents.
