Marina Park design advances; town hears $9.5 million estimate

Jamie Kendrick of Wood Valley Community Strategies updated the Port Deposit Town Council on the Marina Park project on March 3, saying the project design is progressing with KCI Technologies and an advisory team and that the estimated project cost is approximately $9.5 million, higher than earlier projections because of environmental permitting requirements and construction constraints.
Kendrick said the town expects construction funding to include state and federal grants, private contributions and Town capital and that construction could potentially begin around 2028 depending on securing sufficient funding. She reviewed a project map with Council during the meeting.
Council members did not take formal action on the project at the meeting but discussed the funding approach and the need to align permitting, design and grant timelines before committing to a construction schedule. The update was presented as an informational briefing to guide future budget and grant-seeking work.
The Council will consider funding options and timing in subsequent meetings as staff and consultants continue design and permitting work.
