City manager: pool heater parts due this week; farmers market to proceed without opening festivities
Summary
City Manager Mark Lacerda told the council the municipal pool's heater failed and a replacement is being manufactured with expected delivery by week's end; installation should follow within days. Because of rain, the farmers market will open without planned celebratory activities, which will shift to April 18.

City Manager Mark Lacerda told the San Gabriel City Council on April 7 that a heater failure has delayed reopening of the municipal pool and staff have contracted for a heater to be custom-manufactured. "We are told that by the end of this week it will be manufactured. It shouldn't take more than a couple of days to install," Lacerda said, adding staff have been communicating with regular users including Seagulls coach George Young.
Lacerda said the city recognizes the inconvenience for pool users and will provide updated timelines as soon as installation is scheduled. He also reported that anticipated rain will require postponing some planned festivities for the farmers market's soft opening; vendors will still attend and the celebratory ribbon-cutting and larger festivities are rescheduled for April 18, the same morning as the department's Silent Day Out event.
The city asked residents to check the online event calendar for updates and thanked vendors and staff for flexibility.
