Public Works says Main Street sidewalk, solar lighting nearly complete; compost giveaway planned

Anthony Chavarria of Public Works told the council that the Main Street sidewalk improvement project is almost complete and that crews expect roughly two more weeks of work, including colored concrete pours and approaches in front of businesses, followed by tree plantings.
Chavarria said the Main Street solar lighting project is complete and that a remaining street-light project on Barcelona should wrap up within about two weeks; the three solar-lighting projects slated for this fiscal year (Main Street, Montcliff and Barcelona) will then be finished.
Staff also said they are considering a townwide lighting audit to identify additional locations that may warrant lighting and that some street-striping touch-ups are planned on Campbell, Peach, Robin and Dwight in the coming month. Public Works announced a compost-and-mulch giveaway in approximately three weeks and said details will be posted on the city’s social media pages.
A council member additionally announced a vaccine and microchip clinic for pets at the old Masons building (1651 7th Street) on Sunday the 17th from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; attendees were asked to bring cats in carriers and dogs on leashes.
Chavarria closed by inviting residents to contact Public Works with concerns about lighting or other projects.
No formal council action was taken on these operational updates during the meeting.
