The commission approved a new three‑space valet lane on the east side of 20th Avenue North for the Tempo by Hilton, after staff and the valet operator described operational safeguards and monitoring plans.
Staff said the location offers a wide cutout suitable for valet operations and estimated roughly 37 vehicle retrievals per day. Trevor Athetherton, representing the valet operator Parking Management Company, said operators staff to match demand and have managed comparable curb operations elsewhere in the city. “We fully trust that they know what to do and how to do it,” staff said of the operator.
Commissioners raised concerns about overlap with nearby valet services (the Graduate Hotel) during peak evening hours and about alley directionality where the valet route uses a narrow alley. The operator confirmed the alley was intended to be used in the arrowed, one‑way direction and staff said they would verify signs and adjust operations if necessary. Staff also noted the operation was already running under a temporary permit with no reported issues.
The motion to approve the valet lane passed by voice vote. Staff will monitor the operation and may pursue enforcement or revocation if operational violations occur.
