The City of Muscogee met in executive session April 27 to discuss a range of items, including economic development updates, labor negotiations and personnel matters, and returned to open session to act on several items.
The council approved a negotiated collective bargaining agreement with Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 95 for 2026–27 after executive-session discussion. Council also approved several workers' compensation claims (listed in the agenda by claim numbers) by roll-call vote. The council approved the employment contract for Municipal Judge John Tyler Hammonds and then appointed Deputy City Attorney Carrie Spencer as interim city attorney, authorized the employment agreement discussed in session, and directed staff to post the job description for the permanent city attorney position.
On economic development and other labor negotiation items listed on the executive-session agenda (including discussions concerning Retail Attractions LLC, AFSCME Local 2465 and IAFF Local 57), no immediate open-session action was required, staff said.
Each action taken after executive session was approved by roll-call vote and recorded in the meeting minutes.
