Superintendent: recruitment fair April 11, under 100 vacancies; FY27 community budget meeting set for April 14

Dr. Ryswyk, superintendent of Knox County Schools, said the district-wide recruitment fair will be Saturday, April 11 at West High School and urged anyone interested in applying to attend.
"For the second year in a row, we have under 100 vacancies to fill," Dr. Ryswyk said, crediting the talent acquisition team led by Alex Mosman for building a replicable system that is improving recruitment compared with prior years.
Dr. Ryswyk also announced that the FY27 community budget meeting will be held Tuesday, April 14 at 5:00 p.m. in the board room and will be live-streamed on the district website at knoxschools.org. He said the FY27 budget prioritizes classroom funding, supports programs that work, and seeks to make the most of district resources in alignment with the district plan.
He noted a recent workforce development roundtable hosted by Mayor Jacobs with participants including Senator Marsha Blackburn, leaders from UT Medical Center, the Knoxville Chamber, Crisman Company, Regions Bank and CGI, and educators. Finally, he reminded families that testing season is approaching and advised parents to help students prepare by keeping routines simple.
The board did not vote on the budget at the work session; staff said the FY27 proposal will be presented to the board later in April.
