Paramount Unified presents and approves draft three-year LCAP, highlights equity targets and new metrics

The Paramount Unified School District Board of Education heard a presentation and held a public hearing on the district's draft Local Control Accountability Plan for 2024—2027.
Dr. Lidle, presenting the LCAP, said the three-year plan ties district goals to actions, metrics and expenditures aligned with the recently updated strategic plan. He said goal one, aimed at deepening learning and college-, career- and life-readiness, shows a total budgeted amount just over $67 million. The plan adds new local metrics — including a measure of the percentage of students meeting typical growth — and includes early-learning benchmarks such as beginning-of-year kindergarten measures and DRDP for preschool.
The presentation emphasized a new focus on student-group analysis and equity. Dr. Lidle noted the district will track progress by subgroups and is moving to measure academic indicators across student groups. He also explained a required goal (goal six) for Equity Multiplier schools: two schools (Buena Vista continuation high school and the Community Day School) were identified to receive additional dollars to address mobility and chronic absenteeism through added staff and targeted social-emotional supports.
Board members and presenters described how the LCAP was developed through needs assessments and broad engagement with educational partners, including district English Learner Advisory Council, parent advisory councils and school-site councils. The presentation also described how the district will use a mix of state-required and locally developed metrics to monitor progress.
The board opened and closed the public hearing as part of the agenda; no public speakers on the LCAP were recorded during the hearing portion. The district noted a full draft of the LCAP is available on the district website for public review.
Next steps: the board recorded a motion to approve the public hearing closure and will consider final adoption actions in the schedule outlined by the administration.
