Planning commissioners honor David Mascaro for decades of service

Commissioners read the resolution into the record, noting Mascaro’s participation in zoning ordinance updates, accessory dwelling unit rules and multiple residential and commercial project reviews. Several commissioners described him as a steady presence with deep knowledge of local planning rules and long-term projects in the city.
“David is a supporter of the law, and we could always count on him to know it and to support it,” one commissioner said during the tribute.
Mascaro, who told the commission he might take a break and “might come back in two years,” thanked colleagues and said he remained available as a resource. The resolution and accompanying comments emphasized his mentorship of newer commissioners and his role in shaping the city’s planning work.
The commission voted to adopt the resolution by motion; votes were recorded by the clerk and the body expressed unanimous support.
