Harrison honors Sgt. Mike Rhodess on 26 years of service; city announces donations and proclamations

"It's been a great place to work...but it's hard to believe it's been 26 years," Rhodess said, thanking the city and Chief Charles Lindsay for opportunities during his career.
The meeting also included community recognitions: Gene Wilson of the American Legion presented a $2,500 contribution from the Jagger Benson American Legion charity to Harrison Community Wrestling. Coach Chad Dennis said the funds will help send several athletes to a nationally competitive tournament in California and provide development opportunities for students.
Mayor Grubs read two proclamations: designating May 2026 as ALS Awareness Month — urging support for research and clinical trials — and designating May 7, 2026 as the National Day of Prayer across Harrison, recognizing the annual federal observance.
The ceremonial items closed the meeting's presentation section before the council moved on to business. Additional community announcements included plans for a splash pad ribbon cutting on May 21 and several small business openings and planning commission items.
