Edison honors two local filmmakers for festival work and community storytelling

The clerk read resolutions commending Heman Pandia for his decades-long career in filmmaking and festival leadership and Nita (identified in the resolution) for costume and production work and festival direction. Both resolutions noted festival awards and international recognition for short films addressing topics such as anger and mental-health themes.
Pandia and Nita came forward to accept the recognitions, thanked Mayor Sim Jooshi, council members and family, and described recent festival accreditation and invitations to international festivals. Council members praised their work and discussed ways the township might support filmmakers in the future.
Both resolutions were opened for public comment with attendees offering congratulations. The council then adopted the recognitions during roll call as part of the consent agenda.
