Land Bank reports sales pipeline, pilot rehab progress and upcoming outreach events

Staff told the Pittsburgh Land Bank board about completed and pending sales, progress on a pilot residential rehab program, an upcoming series of buyer info sessions, the 2025 annual report and partner collaborations, and announced the next board meeting date.
Land Bank staff used the May 8 meeting to summarize recent sales, pilot program progress and upcoming outreach.
Staff reported three sales completed in the past month, bringing this year’s completed sales to 19 and 124 total completed sales historically. Several additional sales and transfers are pending city approvals. The Land Bank said it is moving sheriff-sale paperwork forward in coordination with the LSA statewide grant and expects a first court hearing for those properties next week.
On the pilot residential rehab program staff said three sales completed this month and listed several properties now available in Garfield, Perry Hilltop and Sheridan, including 501 Broad Street (Garfield) and a structure at 1321 Jeff Street. Staff reiterated buyer requirements for the rehab program: proof of funding to purchase and fully rehab a property, and an approved rehab plan. Staff noted two new applications for Fine View properties and additional listings expected as stabilization completes.
Staff also summarized the forthcoming 2025 annual report, noting the Land Bank sold 88 properties in 2025, increased its inventory, completed 14 creative board-ups, and expanded sales of vacant lots intended for capital-A affordable new construction (targeting buyers at or below 80% of Area Median Income). Staff highlighted partnerships and outreach: two recent pilot info sessions held with Pittsburgh Hispanic Development Corporation (PHDC), and upcoming sessions with the Lincoln Lemington Belmar CDC and partner Wave; next info session scheduled May 16 at Wave offices.
Staff said the Land Bank will participate in the Pennsylvania Association of Housing and Redevelopment Agencies (PARA) conference in June, and will host the Reclaiming Vacant Properties Conference in Pittsburgh in September with a bus tour in partnership with City of Bridges Community Land Trust.
The board accepted the updates and set the next meeting for June 12, 2026.
