Commissioners authorize lawsuit if Rodman property unresolved; code enforcement updates multiple nuisance cases

County code enforcement staff provided a detailed update on multiple nuisance properties and asked for direction on the long-running Rodman parcel, which was placed on the market but remained unsold after more than 120 days. Staff recommended waiting through the realtor period and reassessing June 1; commissioners voted to authorize filing suit if the property is not brought into compliance by that date.
Staff outlined persistent problems at several properties: excessive scrap and abandoned vehicles at Mason and others, a partially cleaned Slinger property, Albright-related court activity and ongoing discussions with owners and representatives. The code officer described difficulties proving asbestos or soil contamination without testing and noted tow and storage costs for vehicle removals. Commissioners asked staff to continue monitoring and agreed to quarterly code-enforcement updates.
A member of the public called the Rodman property an “eyesore” and urged action. Commissioners balanced the goal of remediation with giving a final opportunity for sale or voluntary cleanup before pursuing litigation; the board’s motion to proceed with suit if unresolved carried 3-0.
