The Seward County Board of Equalization met at 8:30 a.m. April 28 and approved a series of tax adjustments prompted by audit findings and taxpayer corrections.
On a motion by Commissioner Ken Schmieding, seconded by Commissioner Scott Pekarek, the board approved two personal property refunds for Lynn Schluckebier totaling $1,437.70 ($858.70 and $579.00). The motion passed with all members voting in the affirmative.
The board then approved tax list corrections for entries 215-24P and 216-25P (moved by Darrell Zabrocki, seconded by Raegan Hain) and took action on homestead-exemption changes tied to a 2022 state audit. Commissioners approved an exemption adjustment for parcel 469-22R (Ralph Grummert) in the amount of $78.50 on a motion by Hain; Zabrocki recorded an abstention and the motion carried.
Following that vote, the board approved a package of exemption adjustments affecting multiple parcel IDs (including 467-22R, 468-22R, 470-22R, 471-22R, 462-22R and others) on a motion by Scott Pekarek, seconded by Hain. The board recorded affirmative votes from all members on that package.
County Assessor Marilyn Hladky provided an update on department activities; the minutes record the update but do not detail the specific items discussed.
The Board of Equalization adjourned at 8:48 a.m. and listed an assessor information update on the agenda for its next meeting scheduled for May 12, 2026.
