Fomit City Council directs city manager to adopt 2026 cybersecurity policies

The Fomit City Council unanimously directed the city manager Monday to adopt the city’s 2026 cybersecurity policies and to ensure future updates are made as recommended by the city’s risk and information technology consultants.

Mayor McMorren moved the directive and Councilor Salsa seconded it. “I will move to direct the city manager to adopt the 2026 cyber security policies document,” the mayor said when introducing the motion. The motion instructs the city manager to update the policies on an as-needed basis per consultant recommendations and to present proposed revisions to the council for review before adoption.

There was no discussion after the motion was proposed. The council voted to adopt the motion; the presiding official announced it was “adopted unanimously with one absent.” Councilor Crocker was not present for the vote.

Separately, council members confirmed scheduling matters: a budget committee meeting will be held Wednesday, the regular May 25 meeting is canceled and a special council meeting will be held May 27 to discuss 13th (and 27th) Street matters. The mayor adjourned the session at 9:25 p.m.

The action directs the city manager to carry out formal adoption and to consult with the city’s risk and information technology consultants on future updates; it also requires that proposed future updates be presented to the council prior to adoption.
