Oro Valley launches new integrated customer portal and expands conservation outreach

Daniel Mattson, the town’s water conservation specialist, gave an update on conservation programs and the transition from the WaterSmart monitoring platform to a new integrated portal (Spry IDM) available through the Oro Valley customer portal (watercs).
Mattson said WaterSmart recorded 3,828 visitors and nearly 10,000 leak alerts in 2025. The new portal is designed to consolidate billing and interval data in one place; Mattson reported roughly 22,000 eligible accounts, about 13,000 registered accounts and approximately 6,000 active users on the new portal since a soft roll-out. The portal enables leak alerts, interval-data views by day or hour, and easier registration because it is integrated with the town’s customer account system.
He also reported 184 free water audits conducted in 2025 and described outreach efforts: interactive elementary-school lessons, booths at National Night Out and the State of the Town, presentations to HOAs (including a community with master meters that limits individual billing signals), and requests for commissioners to help promote the free audit program.
Commissioners asked about staffing for audits (Mattson said he currently conducts audits himself) and about default alert settings (system defaults detect continuous use at about 5 gallons per hour over 24 hours; customers can set custom thresholds). Mattson provided the new portal login (watercs) and instructions for accessing interval data.
