Oro Valley water utility reports progress on reservoirs, mains and pump repairs

Staff provided a capital improvement project update covering multiple water-system projects and recent operational work.
Highlights included Water Plant 14 where a temporary reservoir and piping work are complete and piping installation is expected by mid-June, with operational testing to follow and a rehab assessment to start after the main reservoir is taken offline. Staff described an alternative solution at the Alcon/Conquistador area to avoid complex underground infrastructure and said bids are expected imminently.
Operations staff reported the pump failure at Well D9 was addressed, the pump was re-equipped and vibration testing met expectations; the well is performing well. The Shannon Road booster and the independent transmission main alignments (20-inch main from Twin Peaks reducing to 16-inch distribution lines) were discussed, including a sound enclosure installation scheduled to return equipment to service. Staff also detailed PLC and control-panel upgrades across sites, meter-replacement targets (around 400–500 per month) and pilot meter programs being tested.
Commissioners asked location and sequencing questions and staff said they are coordinating with stakeholders such as golf course management and engineering for easements and construction schedules.
