The Port Deposit Town Council on April 7 unanimously approved a $2,026 agreement with Towson University to provide archaeological monitoring for trenching related to a new electric line behind the town'owned Gas House. Town Administrator Vicky Rinkerman presented the contract and said the monitoring work will be limited to Town property behind the Gas House.
The contract was approved after Councilman Daniel Berlin moved to accept the agreement and Councilman Tom Knight seconded the motion; the motion passed unanimously. The council did not attach additional conditions during the vote.
The agreement was presented as part of new-business agenda items and is intended to ensure compliance with historic-preservation requirements during the electric-line installation. Town staff later noted that bid revisions for the Gas House electric line are underway and that the monitoring requirement applies only to work on town-owned property behind the building.
No public testimony opposed the agreement during the meeting. The council adjourned at 7:43 p.m.; next procedural steps for the electric-line project were not specified in the minutes.
