Monongalia County Board adopts 2026–27 levy rates, approves contracts and personnel items

The Monongalia County Schools Board voted to adopt the final 2026–27 levy rates after the superintendent recommended approval and the board moved and seconded the measure.

The superintendent opened the reconvened March 10 meeting by asking whether any members of the public wished to speak on the levy; none did, and the motion passed after a verbal roll call of “aye.” The board did not record an individual roll-call tally in the public minutes excerpt.

In related business the board approved a set of routine items: early graduation requests for Morgantown High School students, AIA contract documents for Morgantown High School’s phase two kitchen renovation, and a short consent agenda that included payment of salaries and accounts payable, a Marriott function-sales agreement and minutes from the April 14, 2026 meeting. Each item was moved, seconded and approved without recorded opposition.

On personnel matters the superintendent presented the regular personnel list and an addendum; both were approved as presented with no new positions requested.

Administration also provided an update on the school excess-levy election, noting a sample ballot is available on the West Virginia Secretary of State website and reminding residents that the day was the deadline to register to vote for the May primary.

The meeting concluded with a motion to enter executive session to discuss a confidential student matter; the motion carried and specified administrators were to attend the closed session. The board announced its next meeting for next Tuesday at 5:00 p.m.
