Walker County announces town halls, building repairs and personnel updates

Walker County announced a series of town-hall gatherings this spring to solicit resident feedback and passed along staffing and facilities updates in its monthly Walker 180 bulletin.
Joe Lee, presenter of the bulletin, said Walker County Chairwoman Angie Teams will hold open forums starting at 6:00 p.m. The county-listed dates and locations were: Tuesday, May 12 at the county administration building in Lefayet; Thursday, May 21 at the Cedar Grove Community Center; Tuesday, June 9 at the Walker County Civic Center in Rock Spring; Monday, June 15 at the Armui Valley Community Center; Tuesday, June 16 at the Rossville Senior Center; and Tuesday, June 23 at Lookout Mountain Town Hall. The bulletin presented these place names as provided in the announcement.
The county also reported that a pipe burst in April flooded the TAG and tax office and portions of the planning office at the Walker County Local Government Services Building in Rock Spring. Services have resumed inside the building, but the announcement said there will be limited public space while repairs are made.
Personnel and recognition items included the appointment of Sharon Evans as tax commissioner following the retirement of Carolyn Walker; Rebecca Pope received the Terresa Parker Dispatcher of the Year award; and Sheriff Steve Wilson celebrated 40 years of service at the Walker County Sheriff's Office.
The bulletin reported the Mountain Co. sign stolen from the entrance of Mountain Co. Farms in October 2024 has been found disassembled; the county said no arrests have been made.
Joe Lee closed the roughly three-minute bulletin by thanking viewers. The county directed residents to official county channels for more information on town-hall logistics, building access and program details.
