Putnam County Commission dismisses one property complaint, orders compliance for two others

The Putnam County Commission on April 28 resolved three code-enforcement matters brought by planning staff.
Kaylin Stalard of the planning commission presented case 2025-34 (120 Paris Stone Lane, Hurricane) and said recent photographs show “substantial progress” and that the property is a “model for what the street could look like.” Based on that improvement, commissioners voted to dismiss the case.
For case 2025-38 (2987 MLAN Pike, Red House), Stalard said the county had received no response from the owner and that current photos show little change. The commission voted to file a compliance order giving the property owner 60 days to address violations.
Case 2026-07 (614th Avenue South, Hometown) was presented as a repeat offender under the county’s amended DEA ordinance. Staff reported vegetation was cleared but noted an open window and a failing back-porch roof that were not documented in the owner’s recent submissions. Commissioners approved a 30-day compliance order for the property; staff said they would initiate the order and continue monitoring.
Commissioners discussed contact attempts with the owners and noted that some properties are owned by attorney-investor groups that acquire tax parcels. No fines or demolition orders were enacted during the meeting; the actions recorded were filing and compliance orders and one dismissal.
